Since starting our practice on Martha's Vineyard in 1983, our primary focus has been on residential work in and around our island base, including also projects in Rhode Island and Connecticut. Our work has also included several public projects, including the Chappaquiddick Community Center; the Martha's Vineyard Public Charter School; Featherstone Center for the Arts; the Martha's Vineyard Financial Group; and several projects for Island Elderly Housing.

Our work has been featured in a variety of publications, including Martha's Vineyard Contemporary Living, published by The Monacelli Press; Architectural Detailing in Residential Interiors, published by the Whitney Library of Design; The Boston Globe Magazine; Elle Décor; and several other publications.

In addition to his role as principal in MacNelly Cohen Architects, Bruce MacNelly has had an extensive academic career, teaching architectural design at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University; the Rhode Island School of Design; Wentworth Institute of Technology; the University of Pennsylvania; and Princeton, Temple, and Louisiana Tech Universities.
